After a night in Oslo and one in Glasgow, I am excited to head out to the Trossachs in a few hours. I am staying in a small town, Callander, so I can rent a bike or hike around the hills and lakes tomorrow before moving on to Stirling, then Edinburgh.
But to back up a minute: The train from Bergen to Oslo was amazing and gorgeous, all snowy with houses buried up to the roofs and steep mountain faces. Unfortunately, I lost my camera card reader while skiing the first stop on my trip and don't have tam's to borrow anymore, so you'll have to wait until I buy a new one for pictures. In Oslo Tam, Tam's mom who is also visiting, and I walked around the city at night, and the next day I visited the botanic garden (also snowy, though not as bad as Tromso!) and then we went to Vigeland's park, an amazing collection of sculptures outdoors on the river. In the afternoon I flew into Glasgow and spent the evening eating fish and chips at a pub and getting some good sleep. Today I got up early, dealt with some financial crises (now resolved... turns out the bank froze my card since i was making international purchases. Too bad I've been making them for two weeks and they just now caught on!), and then took a very long drizzly walk to see all
Glasgow has to offer. My mini tour included the Cathedral and necropolis, the museum of modern art, St Mungo's museum of religions, and lunch at the Willow Tea Rooms. After a little rest I will brave the rain again to find my way to the bus station where I will leave for Callander.
More later, maybe with pictures!
