Bath & Avebury

I am in Bath, England right now and I have caught a fantastic cold to go with the English weather. Luckily my hostel has free tea and a tv room where I am recuperating... I have managed to get out despite being sneezy though, yesterday I visited the Bath abbey and walked around town a lot, and today I visited Avebury, which was amazing. Instead of paying for a tour of Stonehenge (about £36) I decided to make my way on my own to Avebury, which is like Stonehenge but less touristy and easier to get to by bus, and you can walk around right next to the stones instead of paying to look at them from outside a fence! The concentric circles that intersect the town of Avebury are about 5000 years old (older than Stonehenge, and the area as a whoel is larger than stonehenge too). It was great to get there early and walk around in solitude, just taraneh and ancient stones. When a tour bus did arrive I went for a hike to leave them behind, and ended up finding my way to Silbury hill, which was a lot closer that I thought! The human-made mound is also about 5000 yrs old, and people still don't really know why it was made or what it was for. It was fantastic to just come to the top of a pasture and see it lurking on the other side, it looks very artificial, and reminded me of a pyramid (only round...and made out of dirt... yeah.)

Anyway, I'm having a good time here except for the cold, but I like the people at my hostel and don't mind getting some rest. Oh, and if I come back married, it's because I met a nice Aussie who is trying to get citizenship in the US. If this gay marriage thing doesn't get worked out soon, I might start abusing straight marriage!!

Love to you all, more from Wales soon!

  1. lol.... PLEASE don't get married, it's my dream in life to be the maid of honor at your wedding (or commitment ceremony?) and I would miss out!

I'm sorry about your cold :( drink up and try to stay warm, don't overexert yourself. It's good you have all that English tea to keep you company!

Avebury sounds amazing! It sounds like Emily's and my experience with the alhambra in spain. Very awesome. I'm excited to check out pictures of that!

Have fun connecting with our welsh roots soon! take care my dear :)
