Cardiff (Caerdydd)

Well hello there. I don't really have anything interesting to tell you, actually, because I've mostly been so so soso sick in bed since I got to Cardiff. I decided to book an extra night here for tomorrow, so I can just relax on the couch today and not miss out on my chance to see the area. I'm fighting off my sinus infection with lots of tea and juice, but unfortunately the stuff they sell over the couter here is... bollocks! Meaning they don't sell benadryl or any of the normal cold stuff you get in the US.

When I got in yesterday I did get out for a couple hours before succumbing to illness though: some girls from the hostel and I took a walk to the museum, and when we got there we decided to sign up for an hour long "taste of Welsh" - so now I can say things like "hi there" - "Shw Mae!" though I think Rose already taught me that one. It was really fun even if I went through an entire tissue pack within the hour.

My plans for Wales are as follows: One more day/night in Cardiff, hopefully to actually see some of it, and then to Machynlleth area (near Aberystwyth) for two nights, and then up to Holyhead to catch the ferry to Dublin. I'm skipping the Brecon Beacons sadly, because I don't think I'll be up for hiking in the next couple of days anyway :(

Well, that's it for now, hopefully I'll be more interesting for the next post!

  1. Sorry you're sick Toots. Wish you were here so I could bring you Theraflu. That stuff is miraculous.

  2. Oh, what a bummer! I hope you get better soon. Maybe you can see one of those socialized medicine doctors and get a prescription? ;) Fingers crossed for you.
